How to Crochet Standing Double Crochet Stitch
March 3rd, 2015
I’ve been following Lisa from Kaleidoscope Art&Gifts for a while and I love her unique style. She is a master of accessories, hats, garments, and scarves. Her designs are trendy, practical, and fun! Check Lisa out here
At the age of 7 my grandma taught my sisters and I to crochet. By the time I was a teenager I became involved in so many other things that crochet fell to the wayside until I was pregnant with my youngest daughter roughly 28 years later when I left my full time retail store management job and began to crochet her a blanket to fill the time.
I’m inspired by many things but one thing that really gets me pumped is working with alternative materials or techniques. I have sketchbooks FULL of idea concepts and some of them make it to the hook while others don’t.
I’m a huge fan of Lion Brand Cotton Bamboo. I love its durable breath-ability and it has a beautiful drape to it.
Oh man, I really don’t look at it like that. I have patterns that have been published in various crochet publications, have competed in a few designs competitions and belong to a couple of active and supportive cross promotion groups where I’m surrounded by some seriously talented people. I absolutely love hosting the two kids’ events that I started: The Future Faces of Crochet Competition and the Kids Create Contest. The kids are really the future of everything, including crochet.

I’ve been drawing and painting since I could hold a pencil/brush and still enjoy it to this day. I’m trying to teach myself to knit (lol) and am girl Scout Troop leader which means I dabble in a LOT of different craft mediums.
Hmm… my family (which consists of my husband, 3 kids living at home and a couple of animals) and I live in a small Eastern Washington rural town where I’m involved in the community as a Girl Scout Leader, PTO Treasurer, Chairperson of the local Artisans’ organization, general volunteer where I can offer my time and services, asst coach for the t-ball team, member of the town’s women’s softball team, member of the local crossfit gym, Vacation Bible School craft director and run 3 businesses from home. What I like to do in my spare time (other than crochet) is to read or catch up on my dvr’d tv shows.
