I got to interview Ann from Glamour4You! She is an incredible designer with a unique style. Her work is fabulous! Get to know her in this interview and she shares a coupon code with us!
My Mom taught me the basics of crochet when I was 5 years old. I remember my room being covered in long chains! I will would drape chains from everything that would stand still to decorate my room. I also wore chains as belts, to tie up my hair, and as bracelets! When I was in 3rd grade I made my first crochet item – a blanket for my cabbage patch doll!
EVERYWHERE!!! I love to look at the fashion everyone is wearing & try to translate that into crochet. When I am out and about, I look at everyone’s clothing & accessories. Then I try to imagine how I can make that piece with crochet. There are times when I will snap a pic of what someone is wearing, just so I can remember the design of the piece.
I will admit – I am NOT great with competition! LOL!! I get very anxious & nervous! But it was definitely something I enjoyed overall, it was exciting and fun!! The designing of the piece was easy. This is something that I do every day! Yes, I have signed up for another DW challenge and will be in many more!!
I would say Yes and No. For me personally, I am very nit-picky about my designs – so no matter if I am designing for a competition or just making a pattern to sell in my store, I strive to make my designs the BEST! I think the competition aspect just brings out a bit more flair!!
I am currently designing with Stylecraft Special DK, it is a great #3 weight yarn that has an amazing array of color choices! I prefer a yarn that is smooth (not fuzzy), so you can see the stitch definition in the design. I also LOVE to design with color!! I am a bit shy and introverted, so designing with pops of color gives me a great conversation starter at times when I don’t know what to say!!
Winning Design Wars and Battle of the Stitches for one!! Also, I think my greatest crochet accomplishment is the fact that I try to show people that crochet ROCKS! There is such a stigma that crochet is for “grandmas” but I am here to prove people wrong!!
My most popular patterns are my Glamour Skull Slipper Shoes. They come in all sizes, so people like to make them for themselves and their children! Click on the photos below for the pattern links.
Crochet is my therapy! It is my driving force that keeps me sane and keeps me going every day!! I am so obsessed with designing, there are time that I have to step away from crochet and do something else!!! If I could learn to crochet in my sleep, I would do it!! LOL!!
What other hobbies are there aside from crochet??? LOL!! My other full-time job is my family. Taking care of my daughter fills me with such joy and love!! Then, when I have any extra time, I like to knit, cook/bake, and any craft that I can do with my hands!
Planning and communication! I plan out each day with options, setting aside time to do everything that my family needs done along with planning time to work. Each day doesn’t always go a planned, but that is ok because there is always tomorrow!
My family is the most important thing in my life! Spending time with my daughter and husband is essential to keeping me grounded. We love all types of activities: swimming, going to the park, movies, camping, shopping!!
Don’t be afraid to learn! Learning something new every day keeps our minds strong and young! Be yourself and LOVE yourself!
It was great getting to know Ann and she has graciously shared a coupon code with us from her shop!
