[Free Pattern] 15 minute Coffee Sleeve

By on March 2, 2015

Looking for a FAST and EASY project? I have just the thing! These coffee sleeves are great for the coffee (or tea 😉 ) lovers in your life. Pair it with a $1 reusable Starbucks cup and you have the perfect little gift.

I’m calling it Frayed Knot’s 15 min Coffee Sleeve because that’s how long it takes me to work one up! I would say the “15” minutes will vary with everyone BUT either way the results are FAST, FUN, and FUNCTIONAL! 🙂

The lovely Alessandra from Just Be Happy whipped up 10 THAT night! She was gracious enough to allow me to use her beautiful picture <3 She used Patons Classic Wool to create these beauties.

Materials needed:

  • Any worsted weight yarn
  • Size H 5.0mm hook
  • Stitch Marker
  • 1 Button (optional)
  • Yarn sewing needle

Gauge: 4hdc = 1 inch

Abbreviations used:

  • slst – slip stitch
  • st(s) – stitch(es)
  • ch – chain
  • sc – single crochet
  • hdc – half double crochet

Size: Measures 4.25″ wide x 3.25″ tall.
*If you want a taller sleeve just repeat Round 7 until you reach your desired height.

NOTE: All the hdc stitches (except in Round 1) and the sc stitches in Round 8 are worked in the 3rd loop. To locate the 3rd loop, find the front loop and back loop. Now look directly below the back loop on the back side of the stitch. That horizontal “bar” is the 3rd loop that you will be working into.

Ch28, join with a slst. (Be sure not to twist the loop.)
Round 1 – ch1, hdc in same st and around. DO NOT JOIN. (Attach stitch marker to help keep track of your rounds.) (28 sts total)
Round 2 thru 5 – (Remember the NOTE!) hdc around. (28 sts total)
Round 6 – hdc in next 13 sts, 2hdc in next, hdc in next 13 sts, 2hdc in last. (30 sts total)
Round 7 – hdc around. JOIN with a slst. (30 sts total)
Round 8 – ch1, sc in same st and around, slst to join. Fasten Off. (30 sts total)

THAT’S IT! Sew the button on the front and you’re good to go!
